Explore The Ngorongoro Crater
Make your stay at Kigongoni Gazella Hotel even more memorable with a full-day excursion to the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most iconic and biodiverse safari destinations. Just a few hours’ drive from our lodge, this UNESCO World Heritage Site offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness incredible wildlife in a truly unique setting.
The crater, formed millions of years ago from a collapsed volcano, now shelters a thriving ecosystem within its 600-meter-deep walls. Often called “Africa’s Eden”, it is home to an estimated 25,000 animals, including all members of the Big Five: lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and the rare black rhino.
As you descend into the lush crater floor, you’ll pass through misty highland forests before entering open grasslands dotted with lakes and acacia trees.
